A goal to breathe easier: Tueo Health and Evidation Health initiate recruiting parents of pediatric asthma patients for a pragmatic randomized clinical study
San Mateo, CA– Oct 18, 2017 – Evidation Health and Tueo Health have partnered together to quantify the clinical impact of a digital health solution on pediatric asthma management. They have recently started to virtually enroll parents of children with asthma into a 4-month randomized clinical study that is being conducted across the U.S.
One in ten children in the United States has asthma, and the prevalence is increasing. Pediatric asthma has been difficult to manage in the past, but new digital methods of passive monitoring hold promise in enabling parents to have greater influence over managing this chronic condition. Tueo Health has created a promising digital solution that combines sensor-based nocturnal monitoring, personalized analytics, a mobile education app, and an asthma coach to assist in better self-management. They looked to Evidation Health to run a robust clinical study to prove the impact of their solution on patient outcomes.
The research partnership brings together Tueo’s digital health solution for monitoring and aiding in-home management of pediatric asthma with Evidation Health’s technology platform, health outcomes research capabilities, and behavior data analytics expertise to accelerate and enhance pediatric asthma outcomes research.
“As a physician, I know how important it is to show that our home-based asthma management solution results in improved asthma control,” said Tueo Founder and CEO, Bronwyn Harris, MD. “Evidation Health’s technology platform makes it possible for us to quantify the impact of our solution on representative pediatric asthma populations across the nation, faster than conventional trials in medical centers. A prior study took us a year to recruit the same number of patients that we have already recruited in the first two weeks!”
“Tueo’s digital health solution will provide powerful insights into asthma management, because of the view it provides into the real life experience of patients,” said Deb Kilpatrick, CEO of at Evidation Health. “In partnering with Tueo, we are combining our areas of expertise to deepen the understanding of pediatric asthma and the families who struggle with it, while optimizing truly novel interventions that will drive better patient outcomes.”
